Katie | The Literacy Camp® Owner & Founder
Oh hey there! I’m Katie & I founded The Literacy Camp® back in 2014! Why? I wanted to be a part of the solution.
I saw teachers & families frustrated by learning loss happening over the summer (on average in the US it’s 36%!!!) when kids lacked summer reading & writing opportunities.
I saw a need for summer camps for children that LOVED to read, write & learn and just couldn’t find a special place to thrive in these areas over the summer.
I heard families wishing it were easier to get kids to WANT to learn, LOVE learning & become LIFELONG learners.
So…The Literacy Camp® was born with the mission to grow & develop a LOVE fore reading & writing! We provide families & communities with a summer camp experience that engages kids in a way parents AND kids LOVE!
I’ve got a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Hope College & a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction from MSU – with a Literacy & Language emphasis & a BR Reading Specialist certification. My expertise is in literacy instruction - but I’m most passionate about kids falling in love with learning.

Miss Jaclyn | The Literacy Camp Director
I’m Miss Jaclyn! I’ve been the resident Director at The Literacy Camp for 4 years now!
My resume also includes Assistant Kids Director, Media Assistant, Pastor’s wife & substitute teacher! I studied elementary education and earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology. I enjoy organizing lesson plans & crafts, working with kids of all ages, supporting & encouraging amazing educators I work with, and making learning FUN & accessible for all kids. I especially LOVE seeing them learn & grow!
My favorite role, however, is being a wife & mama to my 14, 12, and 4 year old. Even though they produce a ridiculous amount of laundry on a daily basis, taking care of them is my greatest joy! My hobbies involve my kiddos, including shopping sprees, basketball games & playing baby dolls. My family loves movie nights, swimming & going on trips together.
Oh, and our dog, Groot is often jealous of the attention the 4 year old gets & demanded to be included in my bio as my favorite dog.
I’m so very excited to work with kids, parents & teachers at The Literacy Camp® as Literacy Camp Director again this summer!
Miss McKenzie | The Literacy Camp Teacher
Hi! I'm Miss McKenzie & I am SO excited to be back at The Literacy Camp® this summer!
I graduated from Michigan State University (GO GREEN) with a Bachelors in Child Development & a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) minor. I have worked with children in many settings the past 8 years. I have taught both 2nd and 3rd grade in Charlotte! I am a wife and mama to a precious boy named Tucker & a fur Mom to our yellow lab, Buzz!
In my free time, I love crafting, camping, drinking coffee, adventuring outdoors & dancing! Fun fact - Miss Katie was my one of my dance teachers in High School! :)
So excited to have a blast at camp again this summer!
Miss Stacy | The Literacy Camp Teacher
Hi there! I'm Miss Stacy, and I’m excited to be a part of the wonderful Literacy Camp again this summer! I live in Eaton Rapids with my husband, 3 kids, 2 dogs & chickens! I love working with young learners and helping them discover the magic of reading and writing. With 9 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of guiding students in a 1st-3rd grade Montessori classroom and even teaching math at the Middle School. My favorite thing about working with students is building their confidence as learners.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading all kinds of books, from adventure stories to funny comics, and I believe that everyone can find a story that sparks their imagination. Outside of the classroom, you’ll often find me hiking, cooking, or spending time with family.
I can’t wait to see you grow as a reader and writer this summer!
It’s my family’s honor to create access to camp for more kids than ever before! We’re working alongside local businesses, school districts, and individual sponsors to make sure EVERY kid has access to camp, regardless of financial need.
